The story is still set in California under Spanish rule and revolves around the well-known adventures of Don Diego de la Vega (aka "El Zorro") fighting against local caciques and helping the poor peasants of his land. Unlike his predecessors, this new Zorro has been out of action for some time, being forced to recover his cape and sword and his esteemed horse Tornado to dispense justice, even if his fifty-something body is no match for him.
